#How long is rhe movie independence day resurgence movie
Too many chefs spoil the broth, and never more so than when a movie has too many writers.
Here, we’re left with a film that is as subtle as a hurled cobblestone to the face, and as exhilarating as a lousy shag. I’m sure that there is a parallel universe out there where this film is absolutely amazing. The premise of an overwhelming alien assault and inter-species warfare on an epic scale is exciting as all hell, every actor big and small will be available for a anticipated project like this, the budget for effects and shooting will surely match these two factors, and good ol’ Roland Emmerich has made good films in the past. Which is frustrating, because it could just as easily have been really good. So, in this new light, it is evident that Independence Day: the Requel is, in fact, not very good. Yet, after a night’s sleep and some mental reviewing over fried breakfast on the balcony (such a beautiful summer’s day), I realise that my first impression of Independence Day: Revenge of the Resurgers was not really based on actual quality being shown on the screen, but rather on my own misguided gratitude for having gotten my “mindless summer blockbuster fun”-itch scratched. I was out looking for mindless summer blockbuster fun, and that is what I felt I had scored. Even though the film had not impressed me in any way, I still felt that I had gotten my money’s worth in terms of explosions, pew-pew and special effects. When I first got out of the movie theatre, I felt quite content.
Worse than that, much like a disapproving parent, I am simply disappointed. Okay, so let me just start by saying that even this review is going to be quite harsh, I did not actively hate this movie. Only a diverse group of pilots, soldiers, politicians, scientists, orphans, salvagers, warlords and bureaucrats stands between mankind and final extinction.
Twenty years after surviving a massive alien invasion, humanity is once again faced with the threat of annihilation when a massive alien relief force arrives to finish the job. About two hours long – give or take five minutes. It is the sequel to Independence day from 1996. Independence Day: Resurgence is a film released in 2016. Revengeance (yeah, apparently that’s a word now). Please, dear entertainment industry… let this particular trope rest for a decade, huh? Oh, how I dislike the whole “Adding an R-word”-School of Titles.
